Ford Recalls Vehicles From The US Market For Seat and Windshield Issues
Why Being Recalled?
- Bronco SUVs- The automakers submitted documents with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrtaion mentioned that the drivers and front seat bolts may loosen over time, and this causes issues like squeak, rattle, or loose seat. Between September 2020 and November 2022 (models 2021-2023), they have manufactured 163,256 vehicles. And all these manufactured vehicles are recalled by Ford.
- Lincoln and Explorer- Also, the reason behind the Lincoln and Explorer vehicle recall is an issue with the windshield, as the visible air bubbles appear on it, which can restrict the view of the driver and can cause major incidents. This also indicates that they are unable to meet federal safety standards.
- Econoline vans- Apart from that, 6909 Econoline Vans are also included because of the inoperative defrosting and defogging systems. It can possibly reduce the visibility for drivers during wet and cold conditions.
Safety Risks and Remedies
As per NHTSA, a loose front seat can increase the risk of injury or turn into a drastic incident. This might be due to bolt and hardware problems. While a windshield defect points out towards manufacturing quality concerns. Although till now, no injuries have been reported due to this specific issue, it definitely involves risks.
Ford’s response
The automakers have decided to replace the pivot links and bolts for free. As per the NHTSA recall notice, new seat hardware, windshield replacement, and defrost system components will be repaired. Till then, all the owners of the vehicles have been notified of the possible risks via mail. Also, they can check the latest information on the NHTSA official website using their vehicle identification number (VIN).
Consumer advise
