2025 was a record-breaking year for Ford, as over 120 recalls were made by the company due to several manufacturing defects. In October 2025, Ford conducted a recall process of several models, including Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator, and F series pickup trucks, due to moonroof wind deflectors, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Moonroof Deflector Triggers Recall of Ford and Lincoln Vehicles
This inadequate attachment of the deflector clips to the moonroof frame can detach from the vehicle and cause accidents or injuries. Owners can visually notice the wind deflector separating from the vehicles and creating a wind or rattle noise while the moonroof is open.
Due to the manufacturing defects and inconsistency, the automakers are under increased regulatory scrutiny.

How Ford Got To Know?
In May 2025, the automakers received the reports related to the issue. Upon further review, the spike of report started related to the same issues in the F series, Expenditure, and Navigator models.
Till September 30, 2025, Ford has received 341 warranty reports and two field reports. This describes the separation event where the drive was hit by the deflector. Although no accident happened, the explanation pointed out the fact that this could have happened while driving in highway, and could have impacted differently, indicating the seriousness of the issue. After understanding the concern, Ford’s Field Review Committee conducted a review on October 17th, 2025, and approved a field action.
Remedy
As per Mfr’s report submitted to NHTSA by Ford, “first the company inspected the issue and then repaired the moonroof wind deflector for free of charge. On November 3rd, the company began sending notifications to all the owners via mail.
