800,000 Ford and Lincoln Vehicles Recalled

· Sage Law Group, LLP

Ford issued five recalls in a single day in August, which affected a number of vehicles equivalent to 800,000 vehicles. Recall includes Ford Edge, Lincoln MKX, Ford Trucks, Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, Ranger, and Mustang. As per Ford’s report, they don’t get any reports of accidents or injuries.

This year, Ford has already surpassed their number of recall attempts from the previous year. Till august, Ford has had issues over 104 separate recall campaigns, which comprised over 2 million vehicles.

Ford and Lincoln Vehicles Recall 2025

Here is the breakdown of the August 2025 recall.

Recall Reasons

Largest recall- Lincoln MKX and Ford Edge for brake fluid issue

This recall impacted nearly 499,129 vehicles, out of which 414,717 are Ford Edge and 84,412 are Lincoln MKX. Vehicles manufactured between June 2014 and December 2017 have issues with the rear brake hoses, as these are causing a brake fluid leak. If the brake fluid level becomes lower in the master cylinder reservoir, the warning light will illuminate. Due to the issue, drivers need an extended distance or more time to brake, which increases the chances of a crash, according to NHTSA.

Ford decided to mail all the owners of MKX and Edge by early September, and notify them of the corrective actions, which are yet to be decided. But Ford has decided to resolve the issue, and will do it by April 2026.

Second largest – Trucks for instrument display panel

On May 9th, 2025, Ford’s critical concern review group (CCRG) investigated reports of blank instrument cluster screens in 2025-150. These are equipped with a remote cluster box (RCB) IPC. Between May to August, Ford’s team looked into the memory fault and found out that the vehicle met safety standards when delivered. But the data showed that 65% of the trucks had ignition cycles that triggered the issues in the instrument display panel (showing blank on the display).

Models include F-550 SD, F-450 SD, F-350 SD, F-250 SD and 2025 F-150. The display panel includes information such as fuel, tachometer, speedometer, engine temperature, and odometer. Till now, 95 warranty claims have been registered by the owners.

Owners will be notified of information related to the remedies and processing, and will be done for free of charge.

Ford Explorer, Lincoln Aviators for faulty taillights

This recall sums up a total of 213,121 vehicles, which includes 189,879 Ford Explorers and 23,242 Lincoln Aviators. When the driver connected the trailer to tow the vehicle, the tail taillight didn’t light up as it was supposed to. This can increase the likelihood of a crash as the other drivers are unable to see the vehicle.

All the vehicles manufactured between November 2023 and June 2025 use a faulty body control module. The dealers will repair the parts for free, and for that, two groups are divided. For vehicles with less than 9,000 miles of driving, the dealer will replace the control module, but for vehicles with more than 9,000 miles, the first dealer will investigate through a functional check and replace the module if needed.

Owners will get the notification by October 13th, and the resolution remedy will be completed by April 2026.

Rangers for side airbag deployment

As per Ford’s statement, vehicles manufactured between 2024 to 2026 are built with side curtain airbags. But these may not deploy during the time of a crash, increasing the risk of injuries to the drivers. This issue sank 100,900 Ford Ranger pickup trucks. Currently, the solution is yet to be decided, but once the resolution is finalized, the vehicles will be fixed for free of cost at Ford or Lincoln official dealers. Notification will be passed between 8th to 12th September.  And remedy-related mail can be expected by December 19th.

Mustang for faulty lights

On April 11th, 2025, Ford’s product development body exterior lighting team gets in contact with CCRG (critical concern review group), as Mustang strikes a lighting issue related to the headlamp during durability testing. There is are total of 69 warranty claims related to lighting and battery drain due to water intrusion into the vehicle’s body control modules (BCMs), causing loss of communication with the exterior lighting, which includes tail lights, license plate light, and side marker, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall report. Their recall includes 2024 to 2025 Mustang models. An inspection will be conducted to check the BCM, and it will be replaced if corrosion or water is present.

All dealers received a notification or a letter on 25th August 2025, and by 5th September. While the owner will get the notification letter after January 1st, 2026, it is expected to be completed by March 31st, 2026.

Note: all the owners will be notified of the relevant information soon; till then, they can either contact directly to the dealer directly at 1-888-327-4236 or visit the NHTSA official website. They can also contact Ford customer service number at 1-866-436-7332.
