– Jeep Wrangler recall nearly 25,000 SUVs.
– Due to the glitch in the OTA software, issues cause hybrid system resets, which lead to loss of communication.
– Till now, no accidents have been recorded due to the sudden power loss.
Jeep Wrangler 4xe OTA Software Recall
Jeep just recalled its Wrangler 4xe models due to a faulty over-the-air software update.
This includes 2023 – 2025 Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), which covers 24,238 cars. As per the NHTSA report (25V710), due to the error in software stemming from the OTA update causes an incomplete connection between the Hybrid Control Processor (HCP) and Telematic Box Module (TBM). These further resets unexpectedly, leading to loss of drive power abruptly and increasing the risk of a crash.
Also, as per the owner’s post and social media sites, while driving at highway speed, the powertrain effectively shut down the system and put the car into park, and then push the start button again.
When they find out?
Jeep got to know about the situation on October 14, 2025, when it received a FOTA software update following more than 200 vehicle owner questionnaires (VOQs). But in October 2025, the technical safety and regulatory compliance (TSRC) organization opened an investigation into some 2023-2025 Jeep Wranglers for loss of motive power.
Till 15th October, they have reviewed a total of 111 customer assistance records, 69 field reports, and 55 service records related to the issue of OTA software error.
Solution proposed by Jeep
Currently, they will conduct a voluntary safety recall and plan an interim corrective action to avoid loss of motive power. But the final remedy is under development, and soon the company will propose a solution to the customers.
Dealers will get notification starting from October 23, 2025, and will receive notice from November 25, 2025. For further information, owners can check whether their vehicles are under the recall list or not, and this can be done by entering their VIN on the NHTSA official website.
