VW Recalls Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUV’s

Volkswagen has submitted information to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announcing the recall of 177,493 units of its 2024 and 2025 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs.

The issue identified is a defect involving the decorative plastic engine cover, which can come loose and potentially melt on hot engine surfaces.

The vehicles included in this recall are Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport SUVs, model years 2024–2025.

The problem lies with the engine cover, which, if not properly reinstalled after vehicle servicing, can come into contact with hot components such as the exhaust or turbocharger.

This contact could increase the risk of melting and/or fire.

Volkswagen dealerships will remove the plastic engine cover free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed starting April 18.
