Toyota Recalls More Than 1 Million Vehicles Due To Different Faults
Recalled Vehicles:
Certain Toyota and Lexus vehicles, including Toyota’s bZ4X, Camry, Crown, Crown Signia, Grand Highlander, Land Cruiser, Mirai, Prius, RAV4, Sienna, Venza, and Lexus’s ES, GX, LC, LS, LX, NX, RX, RZ, AND TX are covered for backup or rear-view camera safey issue. While 2023-2024 LX 600 (99,10 vehicles), 2024 GX 550 (3800 vehicles), and 2022-2024 Toyota Tundra (113,079) are included for engine failure recall.
The Issue:
- Rear-view camera- due to a software error in the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) system’s Parking Assist ECU, the display screen either freezes the image or gets blank while reversing the vehicle, and this causes issues for the driver while reversing or parking. This issue violates the federal safety standard, as it poses the risk of a crash.
- Engine stall and loss of drive power- while driving the vehicle, certain machining debris has not been removed from the engine, and this is potentially causing issues like engine rough sunning, knocking, loss of motive power, and inability to start the engine. Sudden loss of power while driving a vehicle at speed poses the risk of a crash, accidents, injuries, or even loss of life.
Remedy:
- The company decided to update the software for free, and this is performed by authorised dealerships only.
- Also, Lexus decided to notify the related information to the owner by early January 2026 via mail. Also, the owners can check the related information on the Lexus App as well.
- Also, Toyota is still deciding on a remedy for the issues, because the previously decided remedy demands significant labor and more time, as complete engine assembly replacement is a lengthy process. But it might relief for owners as the issue will be resolved for free of charge.
- The owner can either directly contact Toyota or can visit the official website of NHTSA for further detailed information and updates.
