As per the NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration), the recall doesn’t just cover a minor inconvenience; it is about the safety of the consumer or occupants, because a simple airbag defect can lead to major issues. As the vehicles prevent airbags from deploying during a crash, disable the seatbelt pretensioners, and completely shut off the electronic stability control system (ESC). This covers HD Trucks, Ram 2500, all the way up through Ram 5500 chassis Cab, and others also. Total 52,565 number of trucks have been recalled over a faulty connection to their restraint and safety systems.
Ram Recalls 52,565 Heavy-duty Trucks Over Airbag Issues
The submitted document to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the occupant restraint controller module (ORC), might have a glitch that goes offline while driving. Due to the inactive ORC module, the electronic stability control system is disabled, preventing the airbag or seat pretensioner from deploying during a crash or accident. This issue is connected to each other, which shows three major problems in Heavy Duty Trucks.
Due to the problem with the vehicles, they are out of compliance with federal safety standards.
The occupant restraint controller showed no prior signal of failure, but the turning on of multiple warning lights in the gauge cluster is one of the signals when it fails.

- 2500 Pickup Trucks – 35,360 units built between 18 July 2024 and May 22, 2025.
- 3500 Pickup Trucks -12,223 units built between 18 July 2024 and May 22, 2025.
Planning of Ram to Solve The Issue
On December 19, 2025, Ram already passed on the notification to the dealer, and from January 15, 2026, they started to pass on the information/ notice to the owners also. Automaker decided to update the software for free of charge; meanwhile, all the owners are requested to drive safely and keep yourself update with visiting the NHTSA official website or authorised dealers.
