The Hyundai Tucson has been Recalled For Fire Risk
The recall covers a total of 51,587 vehicles, along with 9,669 copies from Canada, as this poses a significant fire risk, and can cause a major incident if proper remedy is not designed on time. Year 2026 comes with a recall of Tucson for Hyundai, which can put significant impact on the owners of the vehicles.
The Issue:
An installed optional OEM trailer wiring harness accessory in the vehicles is designed to tow application. But this installed accessory is susceptible to water ingress, and this water ingress in the wire harness control module can result in vehicle or lamp stops. And in extreme cases, this can lead to electric shock due to melting, overheating, or ignition.
On October 24, 2025, the automaker was infomed related to the new incident in Tucson where the vehicles sustain a thermal damage to their rear. After conducting an on-site inspection third party analysis, they found that the vehicle had survived the electrical shorting on the PCB controller within the trailer wiring harness control module.
As of now, Hyundai is aware of three confirmed fire issues in their vehicle, 287 reports which were received between 8 June 2022 and 10 November 2025 (trailer wiring harness failure), and zero confirmed cases of crashes or injuries in the US or Canadian market.
Advice by Hyundai:
The owners can continue to drive their vehicles, but it is advised to park their vehicles away from the crowded locations for safety purposes. For now, the automkaers are decided to replace the trailer wiring harness for free, and owners can expect to receive the notification after February 16, 2026, via mail.
