Honda Recalls in December 2024
· Sage Law Group, LLP
To ensure customer safety, Honda has taken a significant step by recalling 205,760 SUVs in the U.S. market. This recall includes the 2023-2024 Honda Passport and 2023-2024 Honda Pilot models.
The recall stems from a potential fuel leakage issue in the engine, which poses serious risks. The filler tube and pipe may separate, allowing fuel to leak and potentially come into contact with an ignition source, increasing the risk of fire.
This is not Honda’s first recall. In the previous month, the company issued a recall for over 35,000 Ram Trucks due to brake system issues.

According to documents posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the problem arises from a glitch in Honda’s installation procedures, leading to improper connections between the filler pipe and neck. Honda has stated that, as of now, there have been no reports of incidents, injuries, or fatalities related to this issue. However, to prevent potential risks, Honda has proactively recalled all affected Pilot and Passport models currently on the road.
All registered vehicle owners have been notified about the issue. Dealers will inspect the SUVs, and owners who have already paid for repairs may be eligible for reimbursement, as per NHTSA guidelines. It’s important to note that this process does not involve component replacement; instead, the mitigation strategy focuses on repairing the pipe and tube to ensure a proper connection.
The NHTSA chronology revealed that the issue was first identified in May 2024 when a warranty claim related to the problem was filed. Honda discovered the issue in six vehicles within its warehouse inventory. Then, Honda Recalls Vehicles to fix them.
Owners will be notified about the repair process by January 6, 2025, via mail. Alternatively, they can contact the Honda Customer Service Center directly for assistance.
