The recall centers around the defective fuel pump control module, as it may fail unexpectedly. The function of the module is to regulate fuel pump operations. - In mid-2025, GM’s internal investigation confirmed the issue in some of the specific batches of modules that have a defective circuit board.

What is GM doing?
Their remedy plan includes the free replacement of the fuel pump control module, but only at authorised dealerships. From September 11th, 2025, a recall notification has been sent to General Motors dealers. The company has already begun issuing notices related to the recall, and the repair is expected to start in November 2025.
GM urges the owner to take the recall seriously, and if they experience a sudden engine stall, especially at high speed, then they should inform the authorized dealer, because it can be dangerous.
