General Motors is recalling more than 90,000 vehicles due to a potential transmission issue that could increase the risk of a crash.
Chevrolet Recalls 90,000 Vehicles
The problem affects vehicles equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Over time, the transmission control valve in some vehicles can experience excessive wear, causing a loss of pressure within the valve. This can lead to harsh shifting, the agency said.
Affected vehicles include:
- 2020–2021 Cadillac CT4 and CT5 sedans
- 2019–2020 Cadillac CT6 sedans
- 2020–2022 Chevrolet Camaro performance coupes
(all equipped with a 10-speed automatic transmission)
The issue requires immediate attention to resolve any ongoing safety risks.
The investigation into the problem was reopened in November 2024, with a GM investigator identifying 115 reports of transmission lock-ups, including one that resulted in an accident, according to NHTSA.
To fix the issue, dealers will install updated transmission control module monitoring software free of charge.
Notification letters are expected to be mailed starting April 21.
